And don't worry - this isn't your average holiday playable race. The Krampus species in Satzija's Tome of Hags will be crafted with the same meticulous attention to mythology and folklore that runs through every page of the Tome. Expect rich lore, unique mechanics, and a flavorful experience that's both festive and ferocious - BAAAAAAAAA! 🐐

Summoned by Winter and Night Hags, these beings are tasked with roles that demand brute strength, intimidation, and strategic acumen. As lair guardians and enforcers, they execute their duties with a blend of raw power and calculated cunning, ensuring the hags' dominion remains unchallenged.

Dancing in Chains Central to Krampus culture is the concept of "dancing in chains." To them, chains symbolize not bondage but a form of sinister liberation. Through unwavering loyalty to their hag masters, the Krampus gain the authority to unleash their formidable abilities upon dealbreakers, oathbreakers, and trespassers. This philosophy underscores a belief that true freedom and power are attained through calculated obedience, allowing them to act as instruments of ruthless justice against those who misbehave.
A Dual Nature While many Krampus revel in their fiendish nature, delighting in the power and impunity their roles afford, there exists a faction that diverges from this path. Under the guidance of benevolent hag matrons, these Krampus evolve into protectors and champions of virtue. Embracing values of honor and discipline, they often take up the mantle of paladins, druids or guardians, upholding oaths and serving as stalwart defenders of remote winter-bound communities. Their innate understanding of law and order makes them natural enforcers of justice, turning their formidable presence towards the protection of the natural world.
